Artist Karen Meadows (pictured top left with students) returned to the Drawing & Painting classroom last week to share her skills as an encaustic painter with Advanced Drawing & Painting students. Thanks to funding through the MSA Foundation, students are able learn this unique new skill of layering hues of hot wax over images on wooden boards to create textured and 3 dimensional works. The results are stunning and unique (and smell amazing too!) Check out Karen’s gallery including encaustic works on her website here.
