MSA Programs Win School Fuel Grants

MSA and Novato High are grateful to announce the award of two School Fuel Enrichment Grants to Cinematic Arts and Creative Writing.

Creative Writing Lit Mag Grant: The $1,800 grant to Creative Writing will help fund the creation of a new literary magazine (Lit Mag) for Novato High School, which lost its school newspaper last year. The Lit Mag project is an effort by both NHS and MSA students in the Creative Writing Workshop class to produce a new student-run online and print publication that will include student-developed stories and literary features. The project is being assisted by guest teacher Britta Esmail, an editor for Tuxedo Literature & Arts Journal and the former assistant editor for FastForward Magazine, a publication written by and for kids. She teaches creative writing workshops for adults and kids grades 5-12.

Cinematic Arts Grant: Cinematic Arts excited to recieve a $5,000 grant to help fund travel and participation in the Student Television Network annual convention in southern California this spring, which will feature workshops and contests for students to grow their skills. Student Television Network was created over 20 years to support and encourage scholastic broadcasting and to provide a forum for teachers to share ideas and collaborate while helping students benefit from the Career Technical Education (CTE) components while developing as filmmakers.
