We believe in empowering students in working with different artists and professionals so they experience a variety of techniques, experiences, and perspectives. Having a growth mindset and committing to ongoing feedback and development helps our creative young people blossom. That’s why our MSA Foundation raises funds to bring in guest teaching artists, pay for field trips, and share the art beyond our classrooms and our campus.
Partnerships like our MSA Neilsen Family Opportunities and Experiences subsidize students in reaching out to explore their own growth. We love hearing about student acceptances into prestigious summer programs like the California State Summer School for the Arts, the School of New York Times, and the Jazz Institute Summer Intensive at Stanford University and we hope both the campus experience and our partnerships make it possible for more and more students to explore their creativity in positive ways on and off campus.
In the last few days alone, I’ve joined our MSA Theatre seniors to see Hell’s Kitchen at the Orpheum, I’ve watched our senior dancers organize their own dance concert to support dance for all, I’ve seen student artwork exhibited in downtown businesses, and I eagerly await seeing a cross section of our performing art students shine in CTC’s performance of Oklahoma. I hope we cross paths and share our pride in the collective impact of arts for all.
With love for all parts of our hard working community, Michelle
