Hello, Creative Community,
It’s been a busy seven days since the last newsletter.
We had a sweet, community-filled Back to School Night, a visit with Congressman Jared Huffman (including a student facilitated Town Hall by MSA senior Sofia Long), the Homecoming Court announcement (details below), and daily artistic adventures and a-ha’s in MSA and content area classrooms.
I’m stepping in to Creative Writing and eavesdropping on students sharing inspiration from their weekend San Francisco Ghost Tours field trip as the begin their own pieces.
I’m hearing about Ms. Kinee’s U.S. History class and the way she weaved in an excerpt of the musical Hamilton to help all students better understand King George’s actions and emotions.
And I’m talking to a rock band student so inspired by a teaching artist unit introduction that he’s researching and taking notes on rockabilly bands in his mandatory football ACCESS study session.
All this yummy alchemy we try to roll into special events like our fast approaching Divine Event so you can experience it yourself and share it with your people. We do our best to capture it in a night, but it’s what we get to do here every day throughout our MSA and larger NHS community. It’s not lost on any of us what an honor and privilege and joy it is to be a part of.
