Hello, sweet MSA Families and Friends,
Today I had the pleasure of spending longer chunks of time in classrooms. I was looking for authentic, rigorous and enjoyable engagement—students pushing themselves to be fully present and diving into learning and growing. I saw it in every classroom down the English hallway with students in several rooms studying CLEAR paragraphs and really articulating what makes evidence compelling and writing impactful. I also saw it in MSA classrooms—some already diving into collaborations and critiques—like our sweet freshmen showing off their self portrait collages below.

I appreciated a different kind of sweet school engagement last week with our spirit days, rally activities, athletic games, and MSA special events. I love that so many students—and staff —say YES by donning the class colors, cheering for our athletes (many artist athletes to boot), and showing up with their whole hearts and minds and passion for all components of our community.
We do a LOT in MSA—and we hope all our engagement is contagious to parents and community members too. Our Boosters are starting to plan for performances, exhibitions, and field trips. Our MSA Foundation committees are rolling up their sleeves and diving in deep to design big events. We hope many of you will show your full-hearted engagement by attending Divine Wine just a month away—tickets go on sale next week.
While we are just eight days into this school year, I am ALL IN when it comes to engaging with all parts of our sweet community. Won’t you join me?
Warmly, Michelle Cortez
