Hello, Good People,
We hope you had a joyful and rejuvenating mid-winter break and that your creative young people have returned to school happy, healthy, and excited for the days and weeks to come.
We dove right into our week back with several investments in our inclusive school-wide culture, including freshmen admin culture discussions in English class and a larger Black History Month speaker event with former Miller Creek Principal Tenisha Tate and Play Marin founder Paul Austin who shared their story regarding racial discrimination and home sales here in Marin County. What a relevant and thought-provoking way to return to community!
We are also excited about upcoming collaborations and opportunities to share our creative culture with our neighboring schools and communities. Check out the calendar to save dates for cool events like the all-NUSD music festival organized by our very own Mr Verplaetse next Thursday and MSA theatre’s opening of Once Upon A Mattress—a fun and family-friendly spin off of the princess in the pea folk tale. Hope to see some of you soon to chat about how we co-create the inclusive culture we envision for our young people.
Warmly,
Michelle Cortex
