Hello, Artsy Folks,
Spring, seniors, smiles…fabulous families, flowers—I love it all so much. Kudos to ALL our MSA Theatre students who performed in Words and Music and Julius Caesar last weekend. The performances were phenomenal.
One performance in particular stuck with me—a powerful ensemble performance of the song “Eyes of Another” from Twelfth Night, the Musical. The lyrics speak to the way art can tap into a deep empathy of another’s experience—something we could all use in these uneasy political and cultural times.
I sign off this week with an excerpt from the song to inspire us all:
I had no clue, I had no clueWhat you go throughI just assumed what I assumedThings that ain’t trueSo remind me to be kinderBecause now I’ve been there, too
And I see through the eyes of another (Eyes of another)Hear through the ears of somebody elseIf we’d open our hearts to each other’s beatsWhat a better world it could be!
With so much love for all parts of our sweet communities,
Michelle Cortez
P.S. I hope to see you this weekend or early next week at one or more event—check them out in our calendar!
