Our Loving Community Cultures

Hello MSA good people,

I know I talk A LOT about the love in our arts-infused NHS and MSA communities.

This week, if there are any doubters, I’ve got receipts, as the kids like to say. There was so much care in making sure each and every student (and staff member!) got their name written on a heart and displayed prominently at our traditional NHS Valentines Day event. Students who decided to wear a heart on their sleeve (or several all over their clothing) were intentionally inclusive and thoughtful of each other. Students organized adjacent activities like “friend speed dating” for our LGBTQ club members and today’s Wellness Wednesday Self Affirmation card station—because, our student organizers reasoned, “The first person you should fall in love with is yourself.”

It’s so much easier to learn from the past, appreciate the present, and plan for the future in a loving community culture.

In these few days before mid-winter break, we’ve got all kinds of references in this robust newsletter to MSA’s 20 Anniversary theme—celebrating our past, present, and future. Please take out and mark your calendar so that you don’t miss the many opportunities to bask in the MSA/NHS love of our arts-infused campus.

Thank you for all you do for our kiddos and communities,

Michelle Cortez

P.S.  Have you shown us the love by completing your family surveys yet? It’s not too late. . .
