MSA Kicking Off Major Events!

Hello, Good People,

Every week, I try to convey some of the magic I observe around campus, sharing some of the beautiful work and artistic risk-taking I see in MSA classrooms or some of the community engagement we cultivate across our diverse campus.

This week, we turn our gaze toward the process behind our musicals. We also feature a parent photographer who does such a stellar job documenting the process of preparing for performances—currently focusing on MSA Theatre’s Once Upon A Mattress.

MSA Dad Michael Pringle has an awesome Instagram page called msabackstage. I’m in love with the way he captures the goofiness, the hardwork, the joy, and especially the friendships our young actors experience. He spends a ton of time being in rehearsal space with the kids and Mr. Franz and all our teaching artists and parents. Somehow his still images buzz with the activity of many hands doing their best to make light work.

I hope his beautiful tributes, sampled above, encourage you to check out the insta with all his gorgeous actor portraits and group candids and, more importantly, make you excited to arrange your plans to see our kiddos in Once Upon a Mattress when it opens next Friday, March 15th. See details and link to purchase tickets here.

To all the ways we show our love for our collaborative efforts to support our artsy kids,

Michelle Cortez

P.S. Speaking of collabs, don’t miss the chance to see and share our first lit mag out of Creative Writing in its digital form!
