MSA Shout-outs and Reminders

Hello, MSA good people,

I’ve got three MSA shout-outs and reminders to share today.

1. Cabaret opens this weekend! You may have already seen some of the gorgeous Cabaret publicity shots captured by our very own MSA student photographer Ben Gurvis, but wait until you see the gorgeous set in the old PAC—lovingly built by Mr. Knudson from Product Design. The costumes, stills, stage, and cast are dazzling even before the actors open their mouths, but today at the Novato High staff meeting, two cast members shared a song from the show that further impressed us all. NHS teachers are now clamoring for tickets for opening night that will likely sell out. Get your tickets soon—I anticipate many full houses during the three-week run.

2. Showcase tickets on sale Friday! Ok, ok—you might as well book all your tickets at once. Our annual love letter to all things MSA takes on 20th anniversary proportions this year. This year oodles of student artists take on planning and implementing a celebratory arts festival type vibe. This event is not to be missed whether you engage by planning, attending, or volunteering at the event. (LOVE you, Showcase Committee weekly planners!) See details on ways to engage.

3. Day-to-day awesomeness. While I often share upcoming events, I want to make sure you know that our kids day-to-day MSA life is also quite spectacular. Today, I caught an awesome student critique in a beginning Drawing and Painting Class AND got the chance to accompany advanced artists on a mural opportunity at nearby Lynwood Elementary. Have I ever mentioned how much I love my job, our kids, this program and our school? So, so much.

To all the ways we invest in our creative young people and our vibrant, multi-faceted community!

Warmly,

Michelle Cortez
