It’s Time for Major Accomplishments

Hello Creative Community,

This time of year, I find myself overwhelmed with pride at the oddest times. A glance at a senior announcement of their next step. A warm “good morning” from a student in the hall. A chat with a parent or teacher. The other night it was bigger wow.

My daughter and I were walking out of a showing of “Michael” at the Roland Cinemark Theatre when I saw a huge poster advertising Backrooms. “Mom, isn’t that the MSA movie?” Well, kind of! The creator and director Kane Parsons DID attend MSA when he worked on his initial 9-minute “Found Footage” and his work went viral.  Shannon wrote about it way back in 2022 (which you can still find on our website here). And Kane’s MSA teacher, Phil Chidel, IS invited to the A24 Backrooms opening as a special guest—a well-deserved recognition of a fabulous and impactful teacher. Not an MSA movie but connected to MSA and a pride point for us all.

We love seeing our creative kids blossom in big and small ways. This community makes fertile ground for amazingness. Thank you for your part of it all.

With love and pride,

Michelle Cortez
