Hello to the 2025 version of ourselves,
I got a chance to observe a great guest speaker in Cinematic Arts today. Dr Laurence Clement is a scientist and talent & career development consultant who talked to students about leadership, teamwork, and developing career specific competencies that lead to better results and she tailored the conversation to the film and television industries. The kids were engaged and the topic was incredibly relevant.
It’s often the so-called soft skills that make or break a team’s success and I was thrilled Chidel brought in Dr Clement to illustrate that point and educate students on science-backed strategies to improve collaborative teamwork. An impactful way to start a new calendar year, no?
(Did I mention that Dr Clement is also an MSA parent—yet more proof that our community is rich with really cool, creative, inspiring people.) As we adjust to changes big and small in our personal and professional lives, I’m grateful for the way our MSA community leans in to help one another and address challenges on behalf of our young artists. Stepping into my new interim role as Co-Principal, I know we’ll be adjusting how we get things, done but I’m confident that our combination of talented collaborators are up to the challenge.
Thank you for all you do for students and each other and happy new year!
Warmly,
Michelle Cortez
P.S. Happy to hear your questions, comments, concerns, or compliments about the new role—this short survey is the place we are collecting your thoughts (and responding if you like).
