Artsy Experiences and Opportunities

Hello, Creative Communities,

We’re thinking and talking a lot about artsy experiences and opportunities these days.

Last weekend, the conversation focused on potential new students and families during auditions. We love spending time seeing young applicants go from nervous to smiling, accomplished, calm, and maybe even a little joyful after meeting teachers. We also love talking to families who go through their own version of anxious to proud. If you know an incoming family, please help them feel welcome by sharing your experience of the MSA and NHS community and perhaps scheduling a family play date at an MSA event listed in our calendar.

Another way we are focusing on opportunities and experiences applies to current students thinking about their future. Some seniors are sharing their early decisions. Check out this heartwarming Instagram account nhscommitments2024 to track the good news.

We are also proud to collaborate with a generous alumni family, the Nielsens, who have invested in a new scholarship to fund rising juniors and seniors in taking advantage of arts experiences and opportunities. Next Wednesday, January 31st, at 1:30pm, we will hold a discussion and panel to learn more featuring:

  • Elizabeth Nielsen (who announces her family’s new fund in this video),
  • Representatives from Academy of Art University—with time to explain how to pursue our two annual full-ride scholarships,
  • And working alumni who balance college and art tech work both for MSA and in the community.

Current families of sophomores and juniors—please help us get your kiddos excited to attend this panel and learn more!

Finally, we revisit all the ways we plan for our kiddos to have great experiences and opportunities every day by reminding you of the little things like encouraging your kiddo to take advantage of spring club offerings (see video) and asking you to fill out the Intent to Return Form.

With so much appreciation for all the ways we work together to creatively support our kiddos,

Michelle Cortez
