Art Can Be Messy

Art can be messy! It’s a journey to create something that aims to be beautiful and/or thought-provoking.

Advanced Sculpture & Ceramics students are on a new journey that began today with pouring plaster into containers of all sizes in the first step of their fall carving projects. We can’t wait to see how these seemingly simple shapes will be transformed!

Our newest MSA artists are enthusiastically creating in Drawing & Painting.  Above, students in Foundation Art are (mostly) all smiles while practicing pattern and texture through the beautiful lack of predictability inspired by the Exquisite Corpse exercise (where 3-4 artists complete parts of a figure without seeing their counterparts’ sections).

Watch MSA Dance Teaching Artist Tara-Caprice Broadwater (Director of Love2Dance) putting MSA Advanced Dancers through their paces last week. Guest artists are an essential ingredient in giving students the benefit of a variety of talents and perspectives.
