MSA’s Concert Band and Wind Ensemble had outstanding performances at last week’s California Music Educators Association Bay Section Festival at Benicia Middle School. The Wind Ensemble, MSA’s advanced band, was the only ensemble to earn a Unanimous Superior rating at the April 22 festival. The honor is the highest achievement an ensemble can earn at a CMEA Festival, with the highest possible ratings give by all three performance adjudicators and the sight-reading adjudicator.
The Concert Band, the intermediate level ensemble, performed both their prepared repertoire and sight reading well, earning an Excellent rating. Both bands earned praise for their musicianship and adept handling of sophisticated repertoire.
