Tony Award-Winning Actor Works with Theatre Students to Improve Skills

Theatre students received invaluable feedback from Tony Award-winning actor and singer Matt Doyle last week, who is celebrated for his versatile work across Broadway, television, and the recording industry.  Doyle spent the day with students helping them to refine their acting and singing skills both in their physical techniques, and in the different ways they can emote as they deliver their lines. The experience produced immediate results with marked improvements as students implemented the advice in their performances.

For his part, Doyle reached a career milestone in 2022, winning the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his show-stopping performance as Jamie in the gender-swapped revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Company. Doyle’s credits include leading roles in The Book of Mormon (as Elder Price), War Horse, and the original cast of Spring Awakening. Beyond the theater, he is known for his role as Jonathan Whitney in the original Gossip Girl and has expanded his international profile with recent projects like originating the title role in Sinatra: The Musical in the UK and starring as Jay Gatsby in The Great Gatsby in South Korea.
