Sculpture & Ceramics Admission Guidelines
Applicants of all skill levels are encouraged to apply. Please contact Ms. Levi with any questions or for assistance.
Portfolio Guidelines
In order to get to know your style, interests and current skill level, we ask all interested students to create a portfolio. We do not pass or fail students based on their artwork; we are not looking for perfection. Instead, think of this process like "trying out" the types of activities you will have in class if you join Sculpture and Ceramics.
Please choose at least 2 of the 4 items listed to include your portfolio. We prefer that one sculpture and one picture be included:
1. Create a sculpture using any type of clay that shows your interests and current skills.
2. One sculpture made of a medium other than clay. This could be wire, cardboard, wood, paper mache, textiles, plaster, string, recyclables, etc. Feel free to use multiple mediums.
3. A sketch or sketches of a work that you are currently making or want to make in the future. Be prepared to talk about your idea and what inspired it.
4. One picture of a sculpture that inspires you or has made an impact on you. Be prepared to talk about why you like the piece during your interview. If you aren't sure where to find pictures, try online galleries or visit a local gallery like San Rafael's Marin MOCA or Youth in Arts
