Audition Preparation

1. Be prepared to perform a piece of your choice, a cappella or with accompaniment/music source. The piece should be able to show the best attributes of your voice.

2. Optional for Jazz Choir applicants: Prepare a scat solo of your choice.

3. Be prepared to sing a series of exercises to evaluate your ability to match pitch, range, and musicianship.

4. Please bring your own accompanist, music source or perform a cappella.

Audition Guidelines

Once you’ve filled out an application, you will be contacted to set up an appointment for your audition/interview. If you do not receive information regarding setting up a time/date by January 20, please contact Shannon Miller, Program Specialist.

  • Perform a piece of your choice with your own accompanist, music source, or a cappella
  • Optional Jazz Choir: Scat solo
  • A series of exercises

ROCK VOCALIST ADMISSION: Incoming students wishing to participate in Rock Band as vocalists should audition for the Vocal Music program. They will be eligible to audition for Rock Band after completing one year in Vocal Music.
