Rock Bands Admission Guidelines
Applicants of all skill levels are encouraged to apply. Please contact Rock Band Director Matthew Verplaetse with any questions or for assistance.
Audition Preparation
1. Be prepared to play one song from the following list to play with an MSA band:
- Carry on My Wayward Son, by Kansas
- Locked Out of Heaven, by Bruno Mars
- Weird Fishes, by Radiohead
- Hysteria, by Muse
- Boogie on Reggae Woman, by Stevie Wonder
- Jumpstart, by St. Adeline
- War Pigs, by Black Sabbath
2. Drummers should be prepared to demonstrate different styles and grooves.
3. Guitarists, bassists and keyboardists should be able to play major and minor scales

Audition Guidelines
Once you’ve filled out an application, you will be contacted to set up an appointment for your audition/interview. If you do not receive information regarding setting up a time/date by January 20, please contact Shannon Miller, Program Specialist.
1. Auditions will be solo and in groups
2. Play song (from list) with an MSA band.
3. Improvise (jam) with a group. Be prepared to choose a style and key.
4. Drummers – Demonstrate different styles and grooves.
5. Guitarists, Bassists, and Keyboardists – Play major and minor scales.
