Get to Know MSA

Marin School of the Arts is a vibrant community of artists, thinkers and innovators who explore and grow together in a dynamic public high school. With 10 different arts programs to choose from and a faculty of professional artists, there is a program for every young artist at MSA. Students are part of a family at MSA. We take a holistic approach to arts education and offer students a chance to collaborate, develop artistically and gain confidence in their skills.

MSA students push themselves creatively in a supportive environment, share a common passion for the arts and develop talents that are essential during and after high school, such as critical thinking, confidence and perseverance.

MSA Family Tours

During the Fall semester, students with their parent or guardian may register for an MSA Family Tour of MSA classes and the NHS campus to better understand the breadth of our program offerings. Tours are in groups and available on a first come, first served basis by reservation. We are unable to accommodate individual tours. It is not necessary to tour in order to apply for admission to MSA programs.

If you have specific program question or require further program information please contact

Given COVID-19 safety restrictions, we are reformatting our MSA Tour Experience. Please check back in August for details, dates, and sign-ups.

It is not necessary to tour in order to apply to MSA programs. Please free to contact us if you have questions about any of our programs or the admissions process.

Family Tours will be available for students considering admission for the 2021-2022 school year. Check back in the Fall for tour dates.

The MSA Tour experience

Family Tours include MSA classes and the Novato High School campus to help prospective students and their parents find out more about course offerings and the overall MSA experience.

Tours begin in the Performing Arts Center with a brief information session.

Visual and performing arts classrooms are included to help prospective students decide on specific preferences. Time is also made available for participant questions and answers at the end of the tour.

A reservation must be made to attend an MSA Family Tour Day (click the button above to reserve). Due to scheduling issues, “drop in” tours are not available.

PARKING: With ongoing construction projects on campus (including our new Arts Learning Center!) parking in and around Novato High School is limited. Updated parking information will be available upon tour registration.

It is not necessary to tour or shadow MSA in order to apply for admission to our programs.

Student Shadow Day

Prospective students may sign up to shadow an MSA program after completing a Family Tour of MSA programs. While offering a more in-depth experience of MSA classes, it is not necessary to shadow in order to apply.

Shadow Days will not be available after mid-December due to end of semester testing and Winter Break. Reservation information for Student Shadow Days will be emailed to families after they have completed an MSA Family Tour.
