MSA faculty Sabrina Kalleen and Howard Gersh were among 19 Novato teachers honored as Teachers of the Year by the Novato Rotary Club, in a luncheon award ceremony on Friday, May 4.

Ms. Kalleen, who teaches MSA & NHS Ceramics and Sculpture, was honored as an NHS teacher who inspires her students to think “big” and take risks artistically, as seen with the whimsical re-imagining of the Art Garden outside of her classroom. Students added new installations celebratingAlice and Wonderland, a tribute to beloved children’s novels and new natural elements.

Mr. Gersh, who teaches MSA Digital Arts and Animation, was honored as an MSA teacher who has brought an entirely new digital animation and virtual reality program to life, along with access state of the art software and hardware for high school students eager to create. Check out an example of just one of the animation projects underway in his advanced Digital Art class on the MSA YouTube Channel!
