Employer Matching Gifts and Volunteer Incentive Programs
Your contributions can have twice the impact if you participate in your company’s matching gift and volunteer incentive programs!
A Matching Gift Program allows a company to match an employee’s contribution to a nonprofit organization.
A Volunteer Incentive Program recognizes an employee’s contribution of time and talent to nonprofit organizations located in their community or surrounding areas. Under the program, employees are eligible to apply for a grant on behalf of the qualified organization where they have volunteered 20 hours or more during the year. For example, 20 volunteer hours may be matched by an employer for $500 or more.
Not all companies advertise these programs, so be sure to ask your Human Resources department or the Employee Benefits department if they are available. These programs are a seldom-used benefit that helps our school and the employee at the same time. To find out more about your employer’s Matching Gift Program or Volunteer Incentive Program, ask your Human Resources personnel for an application form and the company’s guidelines for participation. The applications and guidelines may also be available on the company’s website.
Keep in mind – most companies make it easy to process your company match donation online. If that’s the case, just let us know by checking the “processed online” box on the MSA remit form. We’ll take care of the rest!
Start Now! Sometimes it takes a while for the process to be completed. Some employers only give 60 days to match and others give a year. To ensure that your employer matches your donation, please make this request as soon as possible. What a great and easy way to double your gift to the students at MSA!
